King Schascha

San Diego, California
United States

“I give thanks everyday for my upbringing,” Kings Schascha states with a humble tone. King Schascha, born in Morvant Laventille, Trinidad and Tabago, was raised by his mother Rosita who gave him the opportunity to study music at one of the best music Academies in St. Augustine. Although his life has led him down many paths, his roots eventually carried him back to his greatest passion, music.

Now residing in San Diego, where the almighty spirit of Reggae Culture is transpiring every day, King Schascha brings with him a fusion of dancehall, reggae, soul, country, jazz, and calypso. “I’ve got mad respect for my band members’ talent, dedication, and love of music” (King Schascha). Playing the riddims for King Schascha is Irusalem, an 8-member band and chosen family to King Schascha. Zena on keyboards, Kizzy & Shoshanna as back up vocalists, Lyndon on the drums, Niko on rhythm guitar, Ryan on bass and Johnny Gringo on lead guitar.

Entertaining the crowd with his powerful, fiery stage presence, King Schascha commands the stage from the very moment he steps on until Irusalem plays their final note. The legendary Black Uhuru gave great praises on his performances by saying, “King Schascha should be on stage at any venue or festival.” No other up and coming artist puts on a show like King Schascha.

Inspired by his family and upbringing, many of King Schascha’s lyrics tell of love, life, family and a never-ending sight of a vision for harmony. His lyrical genius, coupled with the pure universal beats of reggae music creates magic to your soul. It is no wonder crowds gather for King Schaschas’ shows to experience an abundance of energy, vibrations of the most high, and celebration of life. “Music is really here to entertain the mind, the body and the soul”(King Schascha).

Building connection through the unifying peace of music, King Schascha is building momentum to transmit his passion worldwide. Those venues, festivals, artists and supporters who have lifted up King Schascha include, but are not limited to; Gallagher’s Ocean Beach, Winston’s, World Beat Center, Reggae in the Hills, City of Trees Music Festival, Bay Area Hempfest, Sacramento Hempfest, Seattle Hempfest, Las Vegas Hempfest, Khari Kill, Louie Culture, Pressure, Richie Spice, Lutan Fiyah, MIDNITE, Lady Saw, The Meditations, Sister Nancy, Marlon Asher and Tribe of Kings.

El Radio Fantastique

San Francisco, California
United States

Led by its creator, the charismatic singer, songwriter, dumpster diver and one-time gravedigger Giovanni DiMorente, EL Radio Fantastique is a collection of talented and electrifying musician-performers from the small farming community of Point Reyes Station, California.

“El Radio Fantastique started from a personal family narrative handed down to me and told with great conviction by my great uncles and great grandfather” DiMorente says. “The mere re-telling of their first-hand experiences with it would put them in great psychological turmoil.” Their accounts chronicled the chaos brought about by an old found radio that reportedly possessed and haunted its listeners.  “As if through some auditory telekinesis, this radio would play the most beautiful music from the past, present and future, yet over time would slowly and methodically drive the listener mad.”  Years later, upon serving as pallbearer for these relatives’ funerals, the young DiMorente took to frequent isolation in the woods.  A lonely teenager having a predisposition for daytime hallucinations and heavily influenced by a 40’s crooner father and punk rock, he started to feel the sinister coaxing of faint transmissions bleeding through from his dream world. “In later years, the radio legend became much more benevolent and controllable.  When I finally got to the point where I could take the reins of the story and direct it, I started a band based on the tale.

Di Morente is no stranger to the spotlight. As a member of the pop duo Times Two in the late 1980’s he and his partner made a fairly standard pact with the Devil. In return for sacrificing their musical standards and artistic control, they scored a top 40 Billboard hit, made an appearance on American Bandstand with Dick Clark, and even were featured in the teenybopper staple magazine Tiger Beat. El Radio Fantastique represents musical redemption for Di Morente, a way to wash away his musical sins of the past… and he is relishing the opportunity to rise again, this time with his musical integrity fully intact.

The overarching musical influences for the group derive from DiMorente’s coveted record collection scavenged from abandoned tenements in New Orleans and a lifetime of dumpsters.  EL Radio Fantastique comprises a unique menagerie of sights, sounds and musical styles. Indeed, the vibration emitted from this group defies all genres as much as an archaic knob would turn on an antique radio.  EL Radio Fantastique is known to put on bewitching and alluring shows with steamy theatricality.  Consistent with DiMorente”s folklore, witnesses have remarked that the band’s players appear to be charmed and somewhat possessed, inspiring a visceral and enchanted concert experience.

20 Riverside

Seattle, Washington
United States

Formed in Everett Washington (25 miles north of Seattle) in the spring of 2008. Founding members Aron Glidden, Dustin Haggerty and Dave Luxmore, met several years earlier while riding Sound Transit’s 20 Riverside bus route that ran past each of their houses. During the fall of 2008 they had recruited 3 more band members; Ian Plagmann, Eli Davidson, and James D. Orr. They became fast friends and formed what is now 20 Riverside. What started as a few friends who occasionally came together for jam and music writing sessions, transformed the 6 friends into a working, and recording band. Their blend of culturally poignant song writing, driving rhythms, melodic melodies, outspoken raps, and funkified horns come together to create an Americano spiced stew of sound that defies categorization, removes boundaries, and dares to travel down an un-charted path that flows into a sea of sound. So climb aboard, fasten your seat belt and take a ride with 20 Riverside!
